Fine Arts - Instrumental, Visual, & Theatre

 

The CVHS award-winning band is both a marching and concert group. They march in 4-6 parades each year, perform half-time shows at home football games, play at pep rallies, present two major concerts per school year, and participate in marching competitions and concert festivals. 

Marching band also has a club. See the Activities/Clubs page for more information. You do have to be in marching band to participate in the marching band club. 

 

Beginner band and orchestra classes are also available to students interested in learning. Beginner classes perform two concerts per year. 

At Chino Valley High School, the Art Department focuses on drawing, painting, ceramics, and sculpture. These classes are project based.

ART I allows students to use a variety of mediums and techniques to create a broad scope of art projects. Drawing, painting, printmaking, and some 3-D design are a few of the mediums that will be explored.

ART II extends the 2D experience with extensive skill building in drawing and painting, through learning about the elements and principles of art.
Both ART I & ART II explore art history and movements.

CERAMICS and SCULPTURE is a class where we do extensive clay hand-building projects, as well as wheel work. The student will learn the entire process needed to produce a finished ceramic piece of art. Students will also explore various sculpture materials, such as wire, papier-mâché, and plaster.

 

ART PORTFOLIO is an advanced art course, following success in Art One. Students will explore, in-depth, the elements and principles of art and de-sign. This will include further investigation into drawing and painting, with more advanced hands-on challenges. Students will continue to be exposed to art history, artists, and art movements.
This course does require prior knowledge of skills, meeting tighter deadlines, and a desire to improve their artistic abilities.
