Foreign Language

SPANISH I (full year) 

Spanish I is designed for beginners and provides an introduction to the Spanish language. Students will build foundational skills in reading, writing, listening and speaking. Students learn essential vocabulary and grammar, including present tense verb conjugations, sentence structure and common phrases. There will also be an emphasis on conversational skills, cultural aspects and geographic information. By the end of the course students will be able to engage in simple conversations, understand basic texts and develop a solid foundation for further language study.  

Prerequisite: None. 

SPANISH II (full year) 

Spanish II builds on the foundations established in Spanish I. Students will strengthen their communication skills and deepen their cultural knowledge. Students will expand their vocabulary and gain a stronger understanding of more complex grammatical structures, including object pronouns, past tenses, commands and present progressive. Students will enhance their reading, writing, listening and speaking skills through practical activities, conversations and cultural experiences. By the end of the course, students will be able to engage in more detailed conversations, read intermediate-level texts and write sentences. 

Prerequisite: A passing grade in Spanish I or 80% or higher on the test out exam for Spanish I.
